Gas Powered vs Electric Powered UTV

Updated: Apr 1, 2021

The pros and cons of owning both by J. Alexander

It is visible in the world around us that there is a “green” electric vehicle

wave coming over us. Is this a good thing or something that special interest

groups are pushing down on us? Lets look at the electric UTV category.

Both gas and electric powered UTVs have their strengths and weakness.

Gas Power

Noise and smell

Capable of extended range

Operating cost $3.00 for 25 miles

45+ mph top speed

VS

Electric Power

No sound or smell

20+ mile range limit (hybrid version will extend)

Operating cost $.50 for 25 miles

25 mph top speed

While electric powered UTVs are not the answer to every need, they should be

considered for those who like the quietness. Pound for pound, an electric has

more power that its gas counterparts. And the number one reason people do

not go electric? Battery replacement cost. But as you see above, electricity is

considerably cheaper than gas, so the savings will pay for the replacement

batteries within 2.5 years of average use. Happy hunting.
